St Patricks Day Special: Ireland, March 2025

PriceFrom £665.00

Sunday 16th March 2025 - Thursday 20th March 2025

Hold on to your cup of tea - we’re off to NORTHERN IRELAND for the ultimate ST PATRICK’S DAY celebrations and we want YOU to join us!

Our holiday begins with the drive to Bonnie Wee Scotland to pick up our ferry at Port Cairnryan for what we hope will be a smooth crossing! We’re promised a stylish trip on the biggest and most luxurious ferry complete with onboard eateries, shops for some last minute treats and even the chance to watch a movie. It’s definitely the best way to travel to Belfast!

Our drive to our hotel is wonderfully picturesque with waterfalls and mountains to admire along the way. As we arrive in Buncrana on the coastline of Wild Atlantic Way (Southern Ireland), it will be time to check in to our home until Friday - prepared to be wowed! Make your self comfortable and enjoy the views from your hotel. Your room comes with all the home comforts you would expect: flatscreen TV, safe, iron, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and internet.

Your time is yours to explore the rest of the hotel too. With an on site leisure club complete with a pool and spa, be sure to remember to pack your swimming cossie to make the most of all the luxury facilities! Your stay also includes evening entertainment with live music for those who love to boogie and sing along.

Itinerary:

Sunday 16th March

Today is a travelling kind of day, but if we’re going to travel, we’re going to make sure you do it in style and with comfort!

We’ll be heading to Cairnryan, Scotland for our ferry crossing to Belfast. Our chosen ferry provider is Stena Line (because only the best will do!) and the expected crossing time is 2 hours which is ample enough time to eat, shop or catch a movie. As we disembark, the journey to our hotel in Buncrana is scenic via areas of outstanding beauty. We love a good scenic drive!

Monday 17th March - St Patrick’s Day

It’s a relaxed start to the day as we pace ourselves for the main event - St Patrick’s Day! What a day to be a part of! We’ll be heading to Derry/Londonderry to join in with the celebrations. Will you head to explore the city’s rich history such as the Guildhall or Tower Museum or perhaps you would prefer to take in the sights and go with the flow. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to make your way to Bishop Street for 3:00pm - it’s time for the ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE! It’s all about the carnival atmosphere, with each year having it’s own theme. It’ll be hard not to get swept up in the community celebrations before we take your dancing shoes back to the coach for the evening.

Tuesday 18th February

It’s a day of rest after the St Patrick’s Day parade and celebrations. Your day is yours to explore or take advantage of the hotels facilities. If you do venture out of the hotel, the surrounding area is rich in things to do including beach walks to blow the cobwebs away; the beautiful area of Malin Head where some of the scenery was used in Episode 8 of the Star Wars film; and dolphins are known to put on a show for eagle eyed visitors; the Marine Museum and Planetarium or even the Doagh Famine Village. The hotel is close by to the local bus service for you to make the most of your day. (Euros are needed in Buncrana and hotel).

Wednesday 19th February

It’s our last full day in Northern Ireland and what better way to spend it than a jam packed itinerary exploring other parts of the island. After breakfast, our first stop HAS to be the UNESCO World Heritage Giants Causeway. Make sure you are wearing comfortable footwear as this wonderous geological site is vast (mobility scooters are available for hire for those who need some extra assistance). Must see parts of the visit include the Giants Boot, the Wishing Chair and of course, the hexagonal basalt rocks. You will be able to learn about the history of the area at the Visitor Experience if you wish.

The day doesn’t end here though - our next stop is the small seaside town of Portrush. Don’t be fooled by the size though, there’s so much to see here. Be sure to have your camera to hand! Will you head towards the ruins of Dunluce Castle (Pyke Castle for Game of Thrones fans!) and learn about the abandoned nearby town? Or perhaps you’ll make a beeline towards The White House - Portrush’s famous department store. Be sure to sample a cake from the newly refurbished Trocadero restaurant - they come with rave reviews!

Our ferry back home via Belfast is calling. Be sure to take a few more snaps to remember what we hope has been a wonderful holiday as we start our journey back home.
