This is a moderate route with some challenges along the way. 
 
Embark on a captivating circular walk from Matlock Bath to Riber Castle, perfect for those seeking a challenge. This short yet demanding trail boasts a steep ascent that tests your endurance but offers a gratifying experience even in the winter months. 
 
As you navigate the incline, the anticipation of reaching the  historic Riber Castle keeps you motivated. The Castle stands as a testament to the area's rich history. The true gem, however, lies in the panoramic views of the valley below - a breathtaking spectacle that makes the climb worthwhile.
 
Upon reaching the summit, take a moment to catch your breath, save the views, and appreciate the castle's grandeur. As you make your way back to Matlock Bath, make sure to look over your shoulder and admire the magnificent castle perched high above.
 
Some of the paths are very secluded and hard to find as they are down roads closed off to cars. This makes this walk very peaceful and quiet, perfect for reconnecting with nature. 
 
Please be aware that this route is steep in places and there are plenty of cows to greet you on the way around. The route does have a small section along a road which can be busy - extra caution should be taken.
